What electronics do you allow your kids to have in their rooms?
Whаt electronics dο уου allow уουr children tο hаνе іn thеіr bedrooms? I аm debating οn weather οr nοt tο allow mу 11 year ancient аnd 9 year ancient tο hаνе computers wіth internet access іn thеіr rooms οr nοt. I wουld рlасе blocks οn thеm, аnd keep аn eye οn thеm аѕ much аѕ possible without always being іn thеіr rooms, bυt I still don’t know. Opinons wουld bе awesome, thanks :]
Computers should be place in an area of the house everywhere people regularly are around- living room, dining room. Putting computers in childrens rooms are not a excellent thought. Putting blocks on sites doesnt protect them 100% When I was 12 or 13 my parents let me have a computer in my room and I went in chatrooms and came crosswise some very sick people.
My 11 year ancient son does have a computer in his room (only because we upgraded and gave him the ancient one). It does not have internet on it, it is for games only. I restrict the time he is allowed to spend before a live audience the games but. If he needs to use the internet, he can use my computer everywhere I can monitor him more studiously. Even with blocks on the internet, kids are able to find ways around things. Doing an innocent sounding search can turn up some sweet raunchy stuff! Both of my children also have CD players in their rooms. I don’t feel it is necessary for kids to have too much in their room as it keeps them from spending more time with the family.
i allow a ps2 and a TV and DVD player, the computer is down in the family room because my 12 year ancient was given tips by a friend at school on how to access computer info and unlocking certain websites. kids are alot smarter these days due to all the tech that is out there.
I have 5 kids and each of them have a TV in their rooms.
The computers stay in my bedroom they can play with it but Internet is a no,no except if they have home work and assignments to do then i allow them on the Internet. They are allowed to play games on the computer but no,no for Internet
AN ALARM CLOCK AND A RADIO. ANYTHING ELSE TENDS TO BECOME A DISTRACTION WHEN THEY ARE TRYING TO CLEAN IT, OR DO HOMEWORK, OR GO TO SLEEP, OR ARE GROUNDED…..ETC!!!!
Only an alarm clock with a radio. Kids are exposed to too much online and in the media. Kids need to get outside and play more!
Even with parental blocks, the Internet would be a no-no. I’m sure we’ve all gotten a result when surfing the web that wasn’t what we were looking for.
My Son has a computer in his room and anything else that he wants he has it all.
they have a cd player. Thats it.
Computers with internet access do NOT belong in the bedroom. It needs to be in a family living area. Blocks or not, there are always ways for pervs to get around them. Has all the kids/internet tales that end terribly taught you nothing???
Keep the PC to yourself. Give them a game boy instead.
NO WAY!!!!! computers need to be in a family room everywhere anyone can see what you are doing. kids are very smart and can figure out how to get around the blocks. my stepdaughter is 7 and the only thing she has in her room is a cd player. the only time she gets on the comp is to play games, that is way too young.
I have a tv in my childrens room, they are not allowed to watch it in anticipation of after feast , shower and homework done.Reading before bed helps children relax.
my 9 year ancient has her own computer but it is right here next to mone everywhere i can watch her and know whats going on . i would never allow one in her room because kids will find a way around blocks and such, and i know a small in this area computers and how they work, i used to erect them for a living in anticipation of i closed my shop down. so its not even a matter of not knowing how to lock them out effectively, but there is always a way around it, and a kid will be the one to find it.
she has her tv, dvd, ps2, cd player, all that stuff back there thats no biggie as long as you dont let them live back there on them, but she would rather be in here with me doing things most of the time anyhow, i find that if a kid has them in their room with what they reckon is free access, it seems to become alot less of a huge deal to them and they hardly pay concentration to it.
and for the poster higher than, you cant keep all the fun stuff out of their room just for the purpose of grounding them in there, thats not honest. ill ground her to MY room lol.
